Rev. Robert Bannan, Lead Pastor and Head of Staff

Robert joined Westminster Presbyterian Church as Lead Pastor and Head of Staff in May 2026. In this role, he provides spiritual leadership for the congregation, oversees the church’s ministries and staff, and works alongside members and ministry teams to help Westminster live out its mission of worship, discipleship, service, and community engagement.

A native of Spartanburg, South Carolina, Robert earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Erskine College. After several years working as a personal trainer, he began his ministry career at First Presbyterian Church of Spartanburg, where he served for eight years in recreation and youth ministry leadership. Robert later attended Columbia Theological Seminary in Decatur, Georgia, earning his Master of Divinity degree in 2017. During seminary, he served as a youth and seminary intern at North Avenue Presbyterian Church in Atlanta and completed chaplaincy training at Grady Memorial Hospital and Northside Hospital.

Before coming to Westminster, Robert served churches in North Carolina and South Carolina, including First Presbyterian Church of Boone, First Presbyterian Church of Spartanburg, and Kingston Presbyterian Church in Conway, where he served as Pastor and Head of Staff.

Robert is married to Holly, who also serves on staff at Westminster. Together they have three children: Jacob, Hattie, and Trace. In his free time, Robert enjoys strength training, spending time with the family’s four dogs, and cheering for his favorite Atlanta sports teams—the Falcons, Braves, and Hawks.
